"The European foundry for European fabless applications"
 
Abstract: The European IC design and market has been changing many times in the past 30 years – which way will it go in the next 5 years? The presentation reviews the changes over this period in order to provide some reference points. The discussion then shifts to the emerging markets that European companies should focus on in order to be competitive in a globalized environment. Finally, there is an introduction to X-FAB and why it fulfils the designation of “The European Fab for European Fabless Applications.
 
presenter Biography: Michael Rome received his BSEE from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in 1981. He spent his first ten years in IC Design, first at the General Electric Company and then at Dialog. He then moved to the commercial side, holding various positions in Sales & Marketing. Besides some years spent with Design companies such as MEAD and Chipidea, most of his career has been on the Foundry side at EM Marin, Austria Mikro Systeme, Jazz Semiconductor and X-FAB. At X-FAB he set up the sales activities in the USA and Asian markets and he is currently Vice President of Business Development for the EMEA region.
